Special Needs

The Bambino Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) department has its unique mission of providing dynamic and holistic education to students with special educational needs. The special education provided is centered on developing student’s academic, ethical and moral behavior, vocational and life skills and emotional skills.

The SEND department being a unique department in Malawian schools, embraces and accommodates learners with different disabilities such as autism, downs syndrome, cerebral palsy and other specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dysgraphia dyscalculia, dyspraxia and ADHD.  It offers personalized programs for each learner which makes sure that each learner’s individual needs are met.

WE OFFER

Special Needs Education

This is a form of learning provided for learners with learning disabilities or mental challenges. In special needs education, the teachers will have an Individualized Educational Program designed to meet the child’s specific needs. Teachers go through academic content at a slower pace and using various teaching methods to accommodate the pace of the learner.

Therapy

The Section has partnered with House of Hope Medical Rehabilitation Center to provide occupational therapy, speech therapy and physiotherapy to all our special needs learners at no additional fee.

Vocational Training

Our older special needs learners are exposed to vocational training as we prepare them for independence after school. Here they are exposed to different skills including, child care, sewing, mat making, cooking, gardening and maintenance work. We have recently started to offer post school apprenticeships for those who graduate out of the vocational programme.
