Special Needs Education

At Bambino International Schools, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment where every student, regardless of their learning or physical challenges, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed

Welcome to Bambino Special Needs Education

At Bambino International Schools, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment where every student, regardless of their learning or physical challenges, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. Our Special Needs Education Department (SEND) creates a supportive and caring space where students with mild to severe challenges can thrive. We believe in identifying and harnessing the unique strengths of each student, crafting individualized programs that empower them to reach their full potential and live independent, fulfilling lives.

Our program is designed with the understanding that each student learns differently. Our team of dedicated special education and therapeutic professionals meets students where they are, inspiring them to become courageous learners while employing tailored teaching strategies. Within this supportive environment, students not only progress academically but also acquire practical life skills that will serve them in their communities, both as children and as adults.

Key Features of SEND

  • Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Tailored learning strategies designed to meet the specific needs and goals of each student.
  • Specialist Staff: A team of trained professionals who are experienced in addressing the diverse needs of our students.
  • Adaptive Facilities: Classrooms and resources designed to ensure accessibility and support for all students.

Program Structure

SNE and Vocational Education

Our Special Needs Education program caters to students between the ages of 4 and 20. These students are grouped into four classes: Preschool, Junior, Senior, and Vocational. In the lower classes, students focus on developing reading, writing, and comprehension skills. For those with higher academic capacity, we offer a modified version of the Cambridge Curriculum, adjusting the pace and presentation to ensure that each student can progress at their own level.

Alongside academic subjects, students explore a range of topics including Art, Music, Character Development, Physical Education, and Daily Living Skills. These areas are designed to foster creativity, physical well-being, and personal growth.

For older students, our program also includes vocational training in areas such as cookery, tailoring, mat making, gardening, serving, stock taking, and child minding. These skills provide students with practical capabilities that will support their transition into adulthood and independence.

Learning Support

Students with mild learning challenges, yet thrive in structured environments and demonstrate social adaptability, are integrated into mainstream classes while receiving additional support in key subjects. A dedicated learning support teacher works closely with these students, providing personalized guidance, reviewing subject material at a comfortable pace, and offering strategies to enhance their understanding and retention of learning content.

Therapy

In addition to academic support, Bambino’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) department provides both off-campus and in-house therapy services. This includes speech and language support, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and reading support, all tailored to meet the individual needs of each student. Bambino SEND is partnered with the House of Hope Rehabilitation Center, located in Area 15, which assists in providing specialized therapy services.

Activities and Events

The SEND section at Bambino is vibrant and full of life, with a range of engaging activities and events that help students learn in fun and meaningful ways. Our students participate in sporting events with children from other special needs institutions and take part in market days where they can showcase and sell products created in vocational classes, as well as crops grown in the school’s garden. Additionally, field trips provide valuable exposure to different environments, helping students broaden their experiences and learn about the world around them.

Parental Collaboration

We believe that the success of our SEND program hinges on a strong partnership between parents and teachers. To foster this collaboration, we offer workshops that encourage an exchange of knowledge and insights between parents and educators. In addition, we hold regular one-on-one parent-teacher consultations, providing a personalized space for parents and teachers to share strategies and discuss how best to support each child’s development, both at school and at home.
